    I've got 3 MX Teles, 1st was a beat up old 2011, 60th ann' Black / maple for cheap. Next was a 2017 Olympic? White / maple, then a Player Butterscotch, Blackguard, Maple. I really like all of them, equally but the Player definitely has "More of that Tele Thing"! Good comparison video. I have 1 MX Strat, a Jimmie Vaughan Signature with D Allen VooDoo Blues p'ups. Frickin Awesome! I play that more than my "Rarely Played" 09 US STD, Sunburst maple. Scared to scratch it! I should do a comparison with a couple of MIJ 80s Squier Strats. Looking for a MIJ Tele now.

    The standard is much better overall, higher ouput so you can set your amp overdriven and tame that with your vol knob on your standard Strat, put in a treble bleed and you're good to go, way more versatile guitar.

      Definitely! I do mainly jazz guitar gigs and it has been my main amp since I got it. Sits on top of my largely unused Princeton Reverb. I teach jazz guitar everyday and we plug in clean to it for lessons. I carry it to every gig. Jazz guitar gigs, clean sound for pretty much everything I do. Most gigs it's just that alone, fills the whole bar, restaurant or wedding reception. If I need more volume I carry an extra speaker cabinet or plug into the venue's PA system.

  • @jaywilldoit
    @jaywilldoit 11 месяцев назад

    I bought both the standard and player, after a while, I decided to sell the player and keep the standard. The player seems like a better guitar than the standard, however, it is trying to be too perfect, too clean, too nice, too shiny, with the brand new alnico 5 and blah blah blah, all that's good and all, but I prefer the character, attitude and imperfection of the standard. Compared to the player, the standard is stupid loud and bassy, but you just need to dial down the volume and the low mid on your amp, then you can get that vintage tone.

    • @jaywilldoit
      @jaywilldoit 11 месяцев назад

      Imo, there is no point in playing the standard with all the eq's pointing at 12 o'clock on your amp, you have to dial down the bass and the mid, because it is way too much on these Mexican standards, to the point that it masks all the higher frequencies and everything else. But as soon as you dial down the bass and the mid, you'll hear the familiar "straty-ness" that people talk about. It's not that complicated really. But I like the vibe on the standard way more, the player is too clean and vanilla.

    Do you think endoscopic surgery would work?

    • @GASTV
      @GASTV Год назад

      I am perfectly fine now. Was pretty much 100% after the general period of recovery after the surgery. Endoscopic surgery would have probably worked just as well and definitely would have been less intrusive and healed quicker, but in my case given I had slipped discs contributing to my hand numbness and potentially complicating the diagnosis, my surgeon recommended we go open surgery to be absolutely sure he cut it cleanly. That way whatever numbness I still had post-op would definitely not be related to my carpal tunnel.

    Just wondering about mobility after carpal tunnel surgery. Long term update please ?

    • @GASTV
      @GASTV Год назад

      Thanks for asking. Absolutely no issues post surgery. The procedure was largely uneventful (other than me being an idiot and pushing myself to play too soon) and my hand was back to normal in the weeks following the last video updates. Have gotten several queries about whether I thought the procedure was the correct thing to do. In my mind, there was no other choice as the alternative would eventually lead to lost of sensation and mobility in the hand, long term irreversible nerve damage and muscle degradation. By contrast, the procedure was a simple cut of some underlying tissue with no loss of any hand functionality and minor healing. Putting a pin and plate in to fix a broken bone would be significantly more invasive but we wouldn't hesitate to do it if we needed it. Have heard of a few negative experiences from viewers but mostly related to the lack of post-operative care in various health systems (cough*USA*cough) rather than anyone being butchered. Hope that helps.

I'm in Australia, and had my surgury 5 days ago, and was given local anesthesia in my my hand which was absolutely horendiously painful, and was sent home with no pain relief, and went through absolute agony when the local wore off. My surgeon was a butcher, and stitched me up like a wrapping up a lamb roast with string. It's so tight I can hardly move my hand. My stitches come out next week, so I expect more pain. I don't think you can draw that conclusion from this demo. Besides that you'd need to know how he preferred his settings on that Helix device of his, they also haven't addressed that The Bud has a Gain control which is, I believe, like a pre-amp, designed to adjust for low or high output pickups/mics/devices. It doesn't seem as if they made use of that function.

    How is your hand currently? I am on the verge of getting carpal tunnel surgery due to my left hand weakening as well as dexterity problems with my ring and little finger. I am a steady gigging acoustic and electric guitar player and play 8-10 solo and group gigs a month. I have had to cancel the next four weeks because I can’t play at the level I have been playing at for the last 35+ years. I’m really hoping I can get my left hand strength and coordination back.

    • @GASTV
      @GASTV 2 года назад

      My hand is fully healed and back to normal... other than old age generally starting to affect me. You sound like you have it way worse than I did when I decided to get mine fixed. I wouldn't put it off, I decided to get it done when I had a mild case as there is risk of long term nerve damage if left untreated. The nerves in your hand can get damaged from the constriction of the carpal tunnel and there's not easy to fix and can be permanent in some cases. In some cases, patients apparently can get atrophy in the hand muscles as the damaged nerves result in reduced use and movement of the hand. Perhaps best to see a medical specialist and see what can be done for you at this stage.

    • @Jeymez
      @Jeymez 2 года назад

      not true at all, so not they don't outshine it, single coil pickups generally are brighter than humbuckers, but during a recording they sound the same. Live is different than in studio, but in a live situation single coils can be heard louder through a speaker. most bands run there guitar through pedals and amps, but in studio a Les Paul cuts better in a mix. with a Strat you have to make a few adjustments so that your not overpowering everyone else. there are better single coil pickups that helps eliminate some brightness.
